A large squad travelled up the A49 to Ludlow on Tuesday night to face Shawbury United from the West Midland (Regional) League Premier Division.
A Reserve XI took the field for the first half and were guilty of several errors which handed their opponents a 5-0 half time lead. Despite that it gave some valuable game time to several players who had not featured much so far this pre-season.
Ten changes were made at half time with Owen Giles the only player to continue from the first half. Shawbury managed to extend their lead with a well taken goal but Pegasus then began to increase possession and started to move the ball around at a quicker pace. A corner from Lewis Clarke met the head of a Trialist giving the keeper no chance in the 53rd minute. However, the comeback was not to be as a number of forays forward were unsuccessful in hitting the target. With just a couple of minutes remaining, Zac Sirrell showed his quality with a well taken goal hit with some power that left the Shawbury keeper clutching thin air.
Not the result that we would have hoped for but on a hot night it was a good workout for 20+ players. With eight players to return following holidays and injury there is reason to remain positive as we head into the final two friendlies.
Next up is Premier Division side and long time local rivals, Westfields on Thursday 25th July in the Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy. Kick off is 7:45pm at Allpay Park.
